Leaving a legacy to GDWG

Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your will to Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group (GDWG). We hope that our charity won’t be needed in the years to come but increases in global conflict, natural disasters and displacement suggest that people will continue to move to seek safety.

By leaving a gift in your will, you will ensure that we can continue to provide support and friendship to those when they need it most. All donations will contribute directly to the core operational costs of the charity, which includes but is not limited to, the salaries of our small staff team, phone credit and office costs. We know that the support that our community can give makes a real difference to people in detention, seeking sanctuary and safety. As X said:

‘It feels like there is hope,

like someone cares about you’

Leaving a legacy is an easy and incredibly effective way to support us at GDWG. You can leave a gift in three easy steps, as set out below:

1.      If you already have a will or will be writing one, you should firstly contact a solicitor or professional will writer to support you. You will need the following details to add a gift in your will to GDWG.

Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group (GDWG), The Orchard, 1-2 Gleneagles Ct, Brighton Rd, Crawley RH10 6AD

Charity number: 1124328

2.      Consider what kind of gift that you would like to leave.

This could be any of the following:

a) A share of your estate (a residuary legacy), which means that it is a percentage of what remains of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.

b) A specific sum (a pecuniary legacy).

c) A specific item such as jewellery, a painting, property or shares.

3.      If you would like to, let someone at GDWG know about your gift.

We really appreciate those who have left us a gift to let us know as this means that we can keep a note of this.

Please get in touch before then if you have any questions about the process or if you would value any support from our team about the wording. Please get in touch with our Fundraising Co-ordinator Anna on aseifu@gdwg.org.uk with any questions.

Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your will, for your solidarity, and for all you do supporting people in detention.
